SEATTLE -- Police have arrested a driver who left a string of damaged cars along the side of a road in North Seattle early Friday.

Officials said the incident began about 2:30 a.m. in downtown Seattle near the intersection of 5th and Denny when a man driving a Range Rover SUV struck another vehicle and sped off.

The driver of the hit vehicle trailed the SUV, apparently trying to get the license plate, but the action caused the fleeing driver to speed up in an attempt to get away.

The SUV diver lost control in the 2400 block of Dexter Ave North and slammed into a parked dozen cars, leaving gashes and dents along the sides of the vehicles.

When the SUV finally came to a stop, the four people who were inside ran off, but officers captured the driver.

No one was injured in any of the crashes, but police said the driver likely caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage.
