TACOMA, Wash. - Police have identified a man who was found shot to death in the quiet Old Town neighborhood on Thursday night.

As of Friday, police officer Mark W. Fulghum says there have been no arrests in the killing of 30-year-old Eric Nevils of Spanaway - nor has a motive been established. Investigators don't think it was a robbery because Nevils still had his wallet.

Fulghum said police received several reports of multiple shots being fired around 8:30 p.m.

Officers responded to the 900 block of North Park Drive and found Nevils lying on the street, dead with a gunshot wound.

Neighbors told police about two cars they had seen speed away from the scene. Police did stop a car that met the description of one of the vehicles. After a short chase, the driver was taken into custody for questioning but Fulghum says it's not clear whether the car was linked to the killing.

"Neighbors don't recognize him as being from this area, so we'll have to identify him and try to figure out what they were doing here and go from there," said Fulghum.

Police say the neighborhood is considered very quiet and not the type of place where a fatal shooting is likely to take place.
