QUILCENE - A 29-year-old man and a girl were airlifted Saturday night from a rugged area at Lake Tarboo, north of Quilcene, after they were injured in accident with an all-terrain vehicle.
The accident took place in a heavily wooded area, and a Coast Guard helicopter was needed to hoist the man from the scene and take him to a local hospital. A chopper crew from Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles responded to the accident.
Video shot by the Coast Guard showed the man being lifted into the helicopter from a wooded area below as he was secured in a stretcher.
The girl was able to make it to a clearing, with the assistance of medics, where an Air Lift Northwest could land and take her to a local hospital.
The names and conditions of the accident victims were not immediately available.
