Man killed when two semis collide head-on
EVERETT, Wash. - A truck driver was killed early Friday when his tractor-trailer rig collided with another one on Highway 527 near Interstate 5 at the Everett Mall.

Sgt. Robert Goetz said the crash happened about 4:15 a.m. at the intersection of Everett Mall Way and the highway. Investigators are trying to determine whether one of the trucks ran a stop light.

One of the semi-truck drivers, Viktor T. Stelmakh, 57, of Everett, was thrown from his cab in the impact and died at the scene.

Police are interviewing the other driver, who was not seriously injured.

"We are trying to determine who had a green light and who had a red light," Goetz said.

Debris was strewn over a large area, and the crash investigation closed parts of Highway 527 and Everett Mall Way.
