Tacoma men walk a mile in women's shoes...literally
TACOMA -- An event brought out the athletes in downtown Tacoma Friday.

"Gotta get your game face on," one told us.

"I brought the wrong socks," another worried.

As they worked through the high stress, we just wanted to talk about,

"My shoes?" one asked.

Yep.

Their shoes.

More than a hundred men strapped on their finest stilettos and slipped into their fanciest pumps in an event called "Walk A Mile In Her Shoes."

It's to raise money for the Sexual Assault Center of Pierce County, and it took the high-heeled men on a one-mile loop through downtown.

Tracy Guise booked right along in his biker leathers and homemade bright red shoes with big bows.

"My daughters helped me make 'em because we couldn't find my size, which would be a 14 wide," he laughed.

Scott Wilson was part of a big group of walkers from the Master Builders Association.

"I told 'em if they got up to a thousand dollars I'd shave the legs. We got up to $650 so we have to wait until next year to shave the legs," Wilson laughed.

But what about the lipstick and the nail polish?

"I saw the purse and I just had to make everything go together," he explained.

They got confused looks.

Hopefully the people watching also get the message.

Sexual assault is no laughing matter, and men can make a difference.

"It's a personal issue for me," walker Judd Johnson explained. "I think it's a great cause and brings awareness to an issue that a lot of people are afraid to talk about."

It's not fashionable.

It sure isn't graceful.

It's definitely not pretty.

But somehow it is a beautiful sight.
