SEATTLE -- Our congestion problems are solved.

Wow.

One little government study and the answer to gridlock magically materializes.

I'll bet you're anxious to know who is responsible for this feat of feats, but would Matthew Kitchen take his foot off the gas and come on down.

Mathew was the main author of the Puget Sound Regional Council study that stumbled on the solution to all our traffic issues.

Ready?

Tolls.

Tolls on every freeway.

Tolls on just about every major arterial, just about everywhere.

It's genius.

Simply put an end to congestion by making it too expensive for people to drive!

It's so obvious.

Mathew is quick to say there's no immediate plan to put his $3.1 million study into play, which is sort of puzzling.

I mean, why spend millions on a study if you're not going to use it?

In fact, I think Mathew's next study should be on obesity and he can come up with a formula making food so expensive that people can't afford to eat.

Anyway, for his innovative approach to ending congestion; for his unswerving dedication to bureaucratic absurdity and for simply being the best example of government at its finest, take a bow Mathew because this "Schrammie" is for you.

And be sure to join Ken, along with John Carlson, on "The Commentators", which airs every weekday from 3-6 p.m. on AM 570 KVI.

It's a lively exchange of information, insight and perspective with two guys who don't agree on much, but still manage to enjoy each other as they tackle issues of the day. Even better, callers are invited in on the verbal action.
