TACOMA - A serial robber and rapist was sentenced Friday to a total of 227 years in prison for breaking into three homes and raping two women during a 2005 crime spree.

It all boils down to a virtual life sentence for Anthony Casper Dias, 28, who was convicted in March of multiple counts of first-degree rape, first-degree robbery, kidnapping and first-degree burglary in Pierce County Superior Court. Altogether, there were 20 separate charges.

And there could be more years added to Dias' sentence if he is convicted in another trial scheduled for this summer in King County, where he is charged with 19 more crimes in connection with the same crime spree.

Dias showed no emotion and said nothing in the courtroom before or after the sentencing.

In one of the three Pierce County crimes, in August 2005, Dias was found guilty of raping a young Fircrest girl.

In another incident, on Oct. 9, 2005, he was found guilty of raping a young woman in Tacoma and taking two of her friends hostage.

The Tacoma rape victim and her two friends spoke in court Friday, saying they had forgiven Dias.

"I've chosen to forgive you, Anthony Dias," said one victim. "And because I've said that, I know I'm no longer a part of your life."

Another victim said, "I choose to let go of my bitterness toward you for what you did to my friends and myself on that day."

Dias faces 19 more charges in King County Superior Court this summer. If convicted of all of the charges he could find another 100 years added to his prison sentence.

King County prosecutors accuse Dias of breaking into a Federal Way apartment in October 2005 where several men were inside, tying them up and then raping two women.

Court papers claim Dias came in through a kitchen window in the middle of the night armed with a handgun.

He allegedly pistol-whipped three men who were inside, tied them with duct tape and put pillow cases over their heads. And then for the next three hours he repeatedly raped two young women, documents say, while taunting the men.

Dias is also charged with similar break-ins and three rapes in another part of Federal Way and Des Moines.

He was arrested when police shot him as he ran from the scene where two young sisters were attacked.
