Several overnight crashes leave 5 injured
SEATTLE -- Five people are recovering from injuries but expected to be OK after several overnight crashes Monday night and Tuesday morning.

The first crash occurred in the Northgate area around 10 o'clock. Police say a tow truck slammed into a car on 30th Avenue NE.  During the collision, the tow truck then rammed the car up against a power pole, trapping two people inside.

Emergency crews had to extricate the two trapped people but both were expected to be recover. The tow truck driver suffered minor injuries.

Then, around 12:30 a.m., a Seattle police officer was driving along Delridge Way SW when he lost control and slammed his car into a tree.

The crash knocked the tree into a nearby fence and damaged his car, but the officer was also OK.

No word on what caused his crash.

Finally, around 1 a.m. at Ambaum and 120th in Burien, the driver of a truck lost control and the truck ended up rolling a few times, then struck a cement wall before finally striking another two parked cars.

That driver also had to be cut away from the car and rushed to the hospital, but he too, is expected to recover.

There is no official word on what caused that particular crash, but police are looking into reports that he might have been racing at the time.
