KENT - A 65-year-old woman is dead after the car she was driving drifted across Highway 515 and struck a bus shelter Thursday evening.

Sharon Kay Thurman was pronounced dead at the scene after the 5 p.m. accident. No one else was hurt in the crash.

Washington State Patrol troopers say Thurman was heading north on Highway 515 near North 223rd Street when her 1997 Acura drifted across the center line and southbound lanes. The car came to rest on the sidewalk after hitting a metro bus shelter.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, but drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
