Witness: Fireworks sparked boat blaze
UNION, Wash. -- A blaze reportedly sparked by fireworks left a boat completely destroyed on Friday evening.
According to witness reports, the boat was buoyed about 75 feet out from shore in the Hood Canal when a bottle rocket lit on shore flew through the air and landed on top of the boat's canvas cover, sparking the blaze.
Mason County sheriff's deputies responded to reports of the fire at 9:18 p.m. and said no one was on board at the time.
The boat is said to have burned from top to bottom, all the way down to the water line.
