Kirkland boy, 5, drowns in Columbia River
RAINIER, Ore. - A 5-year-old Kirkland boy drowned Saturday after falling into the Columbia River near Rainier, Ore., authorities said.
It happened off Dibblee Point Beach shortly after 2 p.m., according to Columbia River Fire & Rescue Fire Chief Jay Tappan.
He said the boy's body was recovered by a dive team about 5 p.m.
Crews from the U.S. Coast Guard, Oregon State Police and Columbia County sheriff's deputies also participated in the search.
