Man fatally shot in Central District neighborhood
SEATTLE -- A 56-year-old man was fatally shot late Monday in a Seattle street, but the circumstances of the shooting remain unclear.

Police were called to the 2500 block of Columbia Street just before midnight, where they found a 56-year-old man who had been shot in the chest.

The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center where he died.

It was not known what the victim was doing at the time, but a bicycle was found on the ground near where he was shot.

Officers searched the Central District neighborhood where the man was found, and a police dog led them to a nearby home.

An 18-year-old man who was in the home was taken into custody for questioning, but it was not clear if he was suspected in the shooting.

Crime scene investigators and homicide detectives spent the morning collecting evidence and interviewing people who were in the area at the time of the killing.

The name of the man who was killed has not been released.
