Bremerton boy catches falling toddler
By KOMO StaffBREMERTON, Wash. -- What could have been a tragedy turned out to be anything but, thanks to a quick-thinking boy who placed himself in exactly the right spot when he saw a little girl dangling from a window. The situation ended just moments after it started at the Griffin Glen Apartments. A 6-year-old girl was dangling from a third-floor window. Thankfully, 13-year old Thomas Brown happened to be standing right under the window, looking up. "She was just hanging there, just trying to hold on," he said. Without a minute to spare, Thomas ran to get into position. By then the little girl was dangling just by her fingertips. So Thomas called over his friend, Gabe, to help. "Yeah, I was really nervous," said Gabe. Gabe rushed over and saw the little girl couldn't hold on any longer. She let go and fell right into Thomas' arms.
They say news travels fast. After Thomas made the fateful catch, a crowd gathered to watch him retell the amazing tale. "I'm really surprised that he was able to do that," said the teen's mother, Vicky Brown. Nevermind calling him a hero and save the accolades, Thomas said, just put him on TV so his grandparents in Florida can see me. Well, Thomas, we can do better. Here's to you on the World Wide Web.

"She kind of landed on me right here," he said, pointing to his stretched-out forearms. The girl was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but just hours after the fall, she was seen smiling at her home.
