Boy, 16, killed in shooting
SEATTLE -- A 16-year-old boy has died after being shot in the Boulevard Park neighborhood on Thursday night, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.
Sgt. John Urquhart said the boy was visiting a relative at the Fairway Lanai Apartment Complex in the 1800 block of South 118th when he was approached by people riding in a white car. One of the people inside the car shot the boy, Urquhart said.
The boy, whose name has not been released, died at the scene. It is not known what prompted the shooting or whether he knew the gunman.
No description of the getaway car was available.
Initial information about the boy's age provided by investigators was erroneous, and Urquhart confirmed Friday morning that the victim was 16 years old.
