TUKWILA, Wash. -- Hundreds of mostly teenage girls stood in line all morning Monday for a chance to meet the vampires that have captured their hearts.

These actors will bring "Twilgiht" to life on the big screen. It's the first movie based on Stephenie Meyer's wildly popular book series about a girl who falls in love with a vampire. The books are the hottest series to hit shelves since "Harry Potter."

"I'm stoked," said Serena McDonald. "We're not even gonna leave. We're gonna stay in our friend's car until they show up!"

Part of the fun is that the story is set in the small, rainy town of Forks, over on the Olympic Peninsula.

Four years ago, Meyer introduced the world to Bella Swan, a 17-year-old who moves to Forks and is torn between the love of classmate Edward Cullen and best friend Jacob Black. But before long, she realizes something isn't right: Edward is a vampire and Jacob, a werewolf.

Readers were hooked, and three more "Twilight" books followed. "Breaking Dawn," the fourth and final book of her "Twilight" series, came out in July and has remained at the top of best seller lists ever since. Teens throughout the country celebrated the release of the book by dressing up as characters from the series for midnight parties at bookstores — much the way "Harry Potter" books are launched.

As the pages kept coming, the series' cultlike following increased. Before long, the books fueled a tourist craze in Forks, looking to see if magic would spark when imagination collided with reality. Kids from across the U.S. and as far away as Europe have been forcing their parents to make a pilgrimage to Forks.

"I went there for Bella's birthday," said Kristin Sickenberger. "Sept. 13th this year."

And now, a chance to meet the actors here. Each fan paid $30 for a numbered card and bracelet that would guarantee a spot Monday evening at the Southcenter Hot Topic store to meet three of the actors, get a signed poster, and a T-shirt.

"I'm gonna go home and get ready and make myself look good for Jacob!" said Jessica Butterfield.

Twilight, the movie, opens on November 21.
