SEATTLE -- Police here are investigating the attempted rape of a student at Franklin High School.
According to police documents, a 15-year-old girl was walking with another girl in the hallway after her lunch hour on Tuesday when a 16-year-old boy grabbed her by the wrist and forced her into a nearby boys' bathroom.
Once inside, the girl tried to open the bathroom door to leave and realized someone was holding the door closed from the outside, she told detectives. The girl said when she was being yanked into the bathroom, she saw another boy closing the door after her and her attacker, and said she presumed it was the same boy that was holding the door closed.
The girl said she repeatedly told the boy to stop and let her go, but the boy persisted.
Two other students who passed by the boys' bathroom during that time later told school officials they heard someone inside yelling "stop," but didn't think anything of it.
The girl said her attacker asked another boy who happened to be in the bathroom at the time to help him. The second boy refused to take part and told the boy what he was doing was wrong and demanded that he open the bathroom door.
The girl was eventually able to twist her hands free from his grip and ran out of the bathroom. She heard the boys following her and yelling after her, but she kept running and running, she said. The girl said she had not been injured during the attack.
When asked whether she was familiar with her attacker, the girl said she had told her friends the week before that she thought the boy was cute. The girl's comment made its way to the boy, who made crude and sexual suggestions to the girl. The girl then told him she wanted nothing to do with the boy, she said.
Police said the boy and his friend fled from campus when officers arrived. The school placed the boy and his friend who reportedly held the bathroom door closed under immediate expulsion. Police said the boys would be placed under arrest if they returned to school.
