SEATTLE -- Investigators looking for a man suspected of killing his ex-wife in South Seattle found a car he was believed to be driving overnight in Algona.

Detectives believe 39-year-old Jose Angel Blanco is now driving a silver 2004 Suzuki Verona with a Washington license 479-VWQ.

A warrant has been issued for Blanco's arrest in the murder of Noemi Lopez, whose body was found in her home by her three children when they returned home from church.

King County prosecutors on Monday charged Blanco with first-degree murder.

Family members who gathered at the victim's home said Lopez and her ex-husband, who divorced in 2006, got into one of their regular fights inside the home Sunday afternoon, but this time the violence escalated and Lopez was killed.

The victim's mother, Maria Lopez, said her daughter's ex-husband had threatened earlier this week to go on a killing spree.

"(He's) gonna kill another person," she said. "He (said) he had three people to kill."

According to court documents, Noemi's 15-year-old daughter saw Blanco and her mother arguing in the house before she left for church with her siblings.

A few hours later, she received a text message from Blanco telling her not to go into the house with the other children and that he was sorry for what he'd done, the documents said.

Investigators say Blanco then called his cousin and said he'd just killed his ex-wife.

Court documents say Noemi's body was found in the living room of the house and that she'd been stabbed more than 60 times.

Noemi's sister, Elizabeth Lopez, said her sister helped move the family from El Salvador and worked two jobs to make ends meet.

"It's a lot of pain and a lot of grief," she said. "I was in shock. I was just hoping that she was just hurt, not dead."

"She worked very hard. (She was) a good Mom, very good - better than me, maybe better than everybody - she was the best mom," said the victim's mother, Maria Lopez.

Anyone with information on Blanco's whereabouts is asked to call 911.
