SEATTLE - A 44-year-old Shoreline man was struck and killed by two cars while attempting to cross Interstate 5 on foot late Saturday night.

The accident happened at about 10:45 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-5 near the 6th Avenue and Forest Street exit, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Troopers said the two cars, a 1997 Honda and a 2002 Honda, were heading south near the freeway exit when the 44-year-old pedestrian tried to cross the southbound lanes.

He was struck by both cars and later pronounced dead.

Drugs or alcohol were not believed to be factors in the accident.

The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
