Ken Schram: A tempting $100 offer

SEATTLE -- I'm tempted to fork over the hundred bucks.

That's how much it would cost to buy my way into what might be at least a brief conversation with Governor Chris Gregoire.

The governor's inaugural ball is on Wednesday of next week.

Tickets are $100 each.

I'm thinking that if I go and rent me a tux and brave the drive to our state capitol, that maybe I'd get lucky enough to chat the governor up over an hors d'oeuvres tray or something.

She's gotten really good at dodging just about all the requests I've sent her way to discuss some issues with me.

I'm thinking my best shot might come if I pay my way into the big party celebrating her re-election.

Maybe a glass of wine or two would loosen her tongue on matters like the viaduct and the 520 Bridge.

She might even be willing to broach the subject of what she intends to do with that mess called DSHS so that more kids aren't dropped through the cracks into early graves.

The governor might even surprise me and go out on a limb with talk of how she plans to put some leadership into play during her new next term.

It could be $100 well spent.

Or not.
