3 years later, woman's murder still unsolved
SEATTLE -- On January 27, 2006, Nicole Pietz left her Lynnwood condo to meet with friends. That was the last time she was seen alive.
A week later, her naked body was found dumped near Sea-Tac Airport, and investigators said the 33-year-old woman had been strangled to death.
Her car was found in a Seattle parking lot, miles from where her body was located and nowhere near where she was expected to be that day, her friends and family said.
Detectives pored over evidence collected from the car and area where her body was found, but the killer's identity is still a mystery.
"The Sheriff's Office continues to investigate this homicide," King County Sheriff Sue Rahr said in a statement Wednesday. "The case remains a priority for us, and I am confident our detectives will find Nicole's killer."
Last year, Nicole's mother upped the reward to $36,000 for information leading to an arrest or conviction in the case. The family is now offering to also pay legal costs for anyone who with information who wants to use an attorney to help with the investigation.
"My daughter's body laid out there with the animals and the elements," Nici's mother, Gael Schneider, said during in an interview last year. "What kind of a person...that's a monster.
"I don't think there is a day that's gone by when I haven't shed tears."
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 206-296-3311.
