Your top driving peeves revealed
They turn in front of us, ride our bumpers, don't use their signals -- it's like they're the most important people on the road.
"It is amazing how ego-centric we all become when we're driving," says Janet Ray of AAA of Washington. "I mean, you have people in their day-to-day life who would never think of uttering a profanity. Have someone cut them off in traffic?"
Oh yeah, you've said those words.
It's good to vent, as long as you're willing to take a good look in the mirror. The same drivers who spent the week complaining about others are now making a visit to the roadside confessional.
Are you guilty of annoying other drivers out there?
Dave: "I'm a real stickler for using turn signals, and I just get mad as hell at myself if I don't use 'em"
Gary: "Yeah, I use my horn a little too much. Maybe I should just wave?"
(Remember to use all your fingers, Gary)
Cindy: "Talking on my cell phone. I know I should just let it go to voice mail."
Karla: "I check the email that just came in on my Blackberry. I don't respond, but I do check it."
Amy: "Sometimes I go the speed limit in the fast (or passing) lane."
All week, we've been asking you to vote for your top driver pet peeves, and thousands of you did! So let's count them down. Here are the top five results from our informal poll:
5: People who tailgate
4: Drivers on phone or doing other things
3: Drivers who pull in front of you only to slow down
2: Drivers in the passing lane who don't move over
1:: People who cut over at the last minute into a line of cars
Feel Better? That's the point.
"Yeah, I think it made people feel really good to be able to express how they felt about these things and that somebody might be listening to them," says Cook. "And hopefully, maybe, it will change somebody's behavior in the long run."
