3 hurt in head-on crash
SEATTLE -- One person was critically hurt and two others sustained minor injuries in a two-car head-on collision Friday afternoon near Interbay Golf Course.

Police and firefighters responded the accident scene, at 15th Avenue West and West Armour Street, at about 3 p.m.

Investigators said a Toyota Highlander headed north on 15th somehow ended up in the southbound lanes and collided into a Honda CRV.

The Highlander continued in the southbound lanes and slammed into a Mini Cooper.

Three people were extricated from the Toyota and the Honda after firefighters cut away the tops of the two vehicles. The driver of the Mini was not injured.

The driver of the Honda, a 65-year-old woman, was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with life-threatening injuries. Her condition is not known.

The driver of the Toyota - a man in his 50s - as well as a female passenger was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses said the Toyota was traveling at speeds faster than 60 mph while weaving in between the lanes and using the center turn lane to pass vehicles before it crashed.

The invetigation is ongoing.
