Schrammie: He who writes the rules gets the gold
SEATTLE -- Remember the golden rule: He who writes the rules gets the gold.
This week's “Schrammie” recipient proves that twisted point all too clearly.
And that prompts me to ask State Supreme Court Justice Richard Sanders to gather his flowing robes about him and come on down.

The often flamboyant Sanders penned a judicial ruling that stands to have him or his lawyer awarded some $600,000 in a separate, but similar, case he himself has pending.
When asked about the obvious conflict between being involved in a proceeding that benefits from what he does as a member of the State Supreme Court, his arrogant honor is quoted as saying: "I’m entitled to the benefit of the law just like everybody else."
'Golly Gee' say legal ethics experts, Sanders should have taken himself out of play on this one case since judges aren't supposed to benefit from their own rulings.
Having muttered the Latin equivalent of "Pshaw", his arrogant honor dismisses such criticism.
Which leaves me to issue the following ruling: Take a bow Judge Sanders, because your lack of ethics and integrity means that this “Schrammie” is for you.
