COLCHESTER, Wash. -- The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office says a 17-year-old boy was taken into custody Sunday night after an 87-year-old woman was found dead in her home.
Deputy Scott Wilson said the teen was booked into a juvenile detention facility in Port Orchard, Wash., for investigation of first-degree murder. Wilson says the boy was taken into custody without incident at 7:45.
The teen was a neighbor of the elderly woman, whom Wilson identified as Ruby Andrews.
The woman's body was found by her elderly husband when he returned home Sunday afternoon. He called 911 and sheriff's deputies responded to the scene in the small community of Colchester, near Manchester.
The couple's white 1993 Cadillac Deville that was missing from the home, located in the 1000 block of Puget Drive East, was found abandoned in a parking lot just outside the city limits of Port Orchard.
