STANWOOD, Wash. -- A 200-pound black bear that was making its home in a median along Interstate 5 was trapped late Thursday night.

The bear eluded game wardens, state troopers and tribal wildlife agents for days, but apparently couldn't resist the doughnuts, fish and maple syrup that had been placed inside the trap.

The bear had not caused any problems and spent most of his time chomping on the grass and stretching in the underbrush, but wildlife officials were concerned that the distraction could cause a serious accident on the freeway.

The animal was taken to the Stillaguamish Police Department where officials plan to tranquilize it so it can be tagged.

They plan to relocate the bear at least 30 miles away so it can't easily find its way back to the median, but they don't want to release him in the snow where food is scarce.

Officials said they will likely take the bear to wooded areas off State Route 2 or Snoqualmie Pass.
