Boy, 5, killed when SUV crashes into tree
GOLD BAR, Wash. -- A 5-year-old boy was killed Monday afternoon when the driver of the SUV he was riding in lost control and crashed.
Snohomish County sheriff spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said the Dodge Durango was in the 44000 block of Fir Road when the driver veered off the road and crashed into a tree about 2 p.m.
The 5-year-old boy was in a back seat and died at the scene. His name has not been released.
The 27-year-old man who was driving was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle to be treated for injuries to his back and face.
His 3-year-old daughter, who was riding in a child seat, was also taken to Harborview Medical Center. Both are said to be in stable condition.
Hover said it was not known if the 5-year-old boy who was killed was in a child seat or if he was wearing a seat belt. It's also unclear if the boy has any relation to the driver.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
