Schram: Buttocks cleavage and killer compassion

So many issues swirling that I'm going to cap the week with some quick short takes on a few of them.

Taking a definitively puritanical position, the Yakima city council has taken action against what it calls "cleavage of the buttocks."

Aimed at a scattering of drive-through coffee stands, the council passed an ordinance that restricts baristas from wearing revealing outfits while foaming up those lattes.

I think city lawyers need to check what impact that "cleavage of the buttocks" measure might have on area plumbers.

Up in Bellingham, Western Washington University students have started up a group called the G.I. sanctuary city movement.

The group hopes to convince the city council to pass a resolution that would order police not to detain members of the military who are AWOL.

The council plans a meeting on the matter next Monday.

The only thing that would make this idea more ridiculous would be to invite former army Lt. Erin Watada to testify on behalf of it.

Finally, Susan Atkins is still in prison for her role in the Manson murders back in the 70's

She been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and is asking for a compassionate release from prison.

I say the hell with that.

Let her die in that 6 by 8 foot cell.
