Missing woman found dead in backyard
KITSAP COUNTY - Search and rescue crews found the body of a missing woman in the backyard of an East Bremerton home late Wednesday, Kitsap County Sheriff's deputies said.

Sheriff spokesman Scott Wilson said investigators believe the woman to be a 60-year-old East Bremerton woman, who disappeared from the Kitsap Recovery Center last month.

Wilson said the woman climbed out the window of her room and walked away from the facility wearing only pajamas, a bathrobe and socks. The woman was found at a nearby home of a relative, but the homeowners were out of town at the time.

Deputies said the housesitter noticed socks on the front porch of the house on Tuesday, but did not think much of it until she read a newspaper article on the missing woman.

She alerted authorities and the rest of the family. Crews found the woman in the backyard on a picnic bench that was covered with a tent-like tarp.

The victim's identity has not been confirmed by the coroner.
