High-speed police chase ends in Edmonds
EDMONDS, Wash. -- Two men were arrested early Wednesday morning after leading police on a high speed chase on I-5.

A black Mustang was spotted by border patrol surveillance cameras doing something suspicious near the Blaine border around 3:30 a.m., said Doy Noblitt with the U.S. Border Patrol.

Blaine police were contacted, and attempted to stop the car, but it sped off. A brief chase ensued but police backed off a short time later and sent out the car's description to local law enforcement agencies.

About 90 minutes later, Snohomish County Sheriff's Deputies spotted the car on I-5 and tried to pull it over. Another chase ensued at speeds over 100 mph at times, a witness reported.

The driver eventually got off the freeway at SW 196th Street.

Deputies cornered the car on a dead-end road near 94th Place West and Puget Drive in Edmonds around 5:30 a.m.. The driver tried to run away, but was captured a short time later by a police dog.

That man, a 29-year-old from the Seattle area, was arrested and then taken to a local hospital for treatment. A witness tells KOMO News he may have been injured from a police dog.

Rebecca Hover with the Snohomish County Sheriff's Department says the driver was booked for investigation of eluding police. A 49-year-old passenger was also arrested on an outstanding warrant. Both were to end up in the Snohomish County Jail.

Noblitt says the pair may also be investigated for transporting narcotics and contraband.
