Hopelink working to give low-income families a happy Christmas
KIRKLAND - It has been a rough week for so many people struggling with the storm.
28-year-old Jennifer Miller was beginning to feel hopeless until she walked into Hopelink's Gift Room in Kirkland.
The gift rooms are open for low-income parents to shop for holiday gifts, toys, and clothing for their children.
"It's not just my family. It's so many families out there. I don't how many," says Miller, who is a single mother of three. She got to pick out gifts for 7-year-old Brandon, 6-year-old Kaylee, and 2-year-old Jacob.
"I have power now, so I'm excited--- this is a good day," says Miller with a smile. "And I'm here to get presents for my kids!"
Electricity is the one thing Jennifer hoped she could count on. She could surely count on this.
Hopelink, which provides shelter, food, and clothes for families in need, gave her something you can't put a price on. They gave her family a Christmas.
Hopelink could still use more donations. If you'd like more information about the Hopelink Gift Rooms go to www.hope-link.org or call 425-869-6000.
Hopelink has six centers around Puget Sound. The one I went to was in Kirkland. And there's one in Shoreline, Bothell, Bellevue, Redmond, and Carnation.
