Trapped woman pulled from burning Potlatch home
POTLATCH, Wash. -- Police had to pull an injured woman from a burning mobile home early Thursday morning while five others inside scrambled to safety.

The fire broke out just after 5 a.m. near the intersection of SR-101 and SR-106 on the Skokomish Indian Reservation, said a deputy with the Mason County Sheriff's Department.

"I stepped out the door and looked to the north and I see this huge black cloud and drifting to the west, and by the time I got there, the house was fully engulfed and burned to the ground," said neighbor Steven Rosenow.

When the first firefighters and police officers arrived on scene, one woman was still trapped inside. She was rescued but had suffered a head injury and serious burns.

Medics were performing CPR on her as she was rushed to Mason General Hospital, then flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, but her condition is not known.

Five others inside the home made it out safely, but were taken to Mason County General for treatment of minor injuries.

Investigators will be poring over the home to find out what sparked the fire.

SR-101 was closed in the area for most of Thursday morning.
