1 hurt in explosion at Cle Elum Senior Center
CLE ELUM, Wash. -- One person was inured when a propane tank exploded at the Cle Elum Senior Center late Saturday night.
A grease fire broke out around 6 p.m., and flames burned through a hose to propane tank, triggering an explosion.
About 90 to 100 people were inside when the explosion occurred, but firefighters were able to safely evacuate them.
"And about seven minutes after they did so safely, the roof started to collapse. And everybody was able to get out safely," said Richelle Risdon, spokesperson for Kittatas County Fire District 7.
One person was injured and had to be sent to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. A firefighter was also treated for heat exhaustion.
