Woman's body found in gravel pit
TUMWATER, Wash. - A woman's body was found Monday morning in a gravel pit south of Tumwater.

Thurston County Sheriff Chief Criminal Deputy Jim Chamberlain said the woman was found about 8:45 a.m. off Little Rock road north of the town of Rochester.

The 37-year-old woman, identified by the Thurston County medical examiner as Karen L. Bodine, was found nude and investigators said they do not have any missing person reports that match her appearance.

Lt. Chris Mealy of the Thurston County Sheriff's Office says there are some marks on the body that can't be explained so his office is calling is "a very suspicious death."

Chamberlain said it appeared that Bodine died within the last 24 hours. Detectives cordoned off the area and expected to remain on scene throughout the day.

The woman is very thin, and has short spiky blond hair with a pink tint, Chamberlain said.
