CAMANO ISLAND, Wash. -- A notorious teen criminal may be at it again.

Detectives say a new string of burglaries on Camano Island looks like the work of Colton Harris-Moore.

Harris-Moore was first charged in 2007 with breaking into nearly two dozen of his neighbor's homes and stealing from them.

One of those victims is Carol Star, who says Harris-Moore broke into her home three times, and even stole her Mercedes.

"He took my little Mercedes sports car and ran it into the store," Star said.

Sheriff's deputies chased him down in Star's stolen Mercedes. He pleaded guilty to three burglaries, and was sentenced to three years. But he escaped a minimum security facility in February 2008. And once he was back out, it wasn't long before police say he was back at it.

There have been 40 burglaries since May, many of them Harris-Moore style, says Kelly Mauck, the Island County Undersheriff.

"We've been dealing with Colton for a long time and we certainly recognize his motives, how he operates and the things he does and a lot of the things that have transpired recently are similar," Mauck said.

It's the talk of the town, with many wondering how a teenager keeps escaping authorities.

"It's very frustrating -- you can't buy anything nice because you're afraid he's gonna take it," said Star.

Harris-Moore turned 18 in March so the sheriff says he'll face charges as an adult and should be in prison where he belongs.
