The Schrammie: Smile for the upper crust
»Play Video
To the peasants it may seem like a violation of their privacy.
But to the well-heeled folks of Medina, it's merely a crime-fighting tool.
So smile pretty for the cameras and let's invite the upper crusted city council of this upscale Eastside city to come on down.
Video cameras have recently been placed at Medina intersections in order to monitor every single vehicle that enters this little city.
Every car, truck, van or motorcycle that crosses the border will have its license plate recorded and immediately run through a criminal database.
The images will also be stored for 60 days in case a crime occurs in the future.
That way, Medina police can scour the video to search for the evil-doer.
And oh-my-gosh, the cameras have already captured the Mercedes-driving culprit who ran over and destroyed a mailbox in nearby Hunts Point!
Yes indeedy, it must be comforting for all those who live within the enclave named Medina to know that everyone else's privacy is being sacrificed for the comfort that comes with their peace of mind.
And oh, it also comes with this week's "Schrammie."
