Another surprise for brave boy battling cancer
BOTHELL, Wash. -- When I first met Brandon Brauns and his mom, someone had just thrown a rock through their front window.
It was one more surprise they didn't need.
Brandon has brain tumors that are growing faster than doctors can treat them.
His mother, Kris Brauns, left her job to give him around-the-clock care.
Now, the company that repaired the window for free is helping raise money for Brandon's foundation.
Disney just sent Brandon and his mom on a Disney Cruise, and the boy got to meet the whole Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He even got autographs to bring back home.
And the Problem Solvers had another surprise.
Brandon is a lego-maniac. But there are a few he doesn't have yet.
Hoping to buy him the few lego pieces he's missing and to help cover mounting medical costs, the Problem Solvers presented the family with $750 loyal KOMO followers had contributed.
Brandon knows his cancer isn't getting any better. His mom asked him what would it be like if he could get rid of the tumors and the treatment, and give cancer back.
"And he said, 'That's a really hard question because I'd probably say not give back my cancer...because we've made so many great relationships and met people that have become great friends," Kris Brauns said.
And Brandon has touched their lives in ways he'll never know.
Brandon and his mom have left for Cleveland to take part in a clinical trial. They're dearly hoping experimental drugs will save his life.
