Seahawks fans 'get Schmitt-faced'
ABERDEEN, Wash. -- A helmet-butting Seahawk is gaining a huge following, thanks, in part, to T-shirts that feature his bloody face.

Two weeks ago Owen Schmitt bashed his forehead with his helmet in an attempt to fire up his teammates and the crowd during the pre-game introductions.

"When he came out of that tunnel and started banging his head it just got the crowd electrified," said Seahawk super fan Lorin "Big Lo" Sandretzky.

The move got Sandretzky thinking, and soon the super fan found himself asking Schmitt, "Hey, Owen, what about a T-shirt with that image?"

"He's like, 'Big Lo, go for it, man,'" said Sandretzky.

So he shared his idea with his buddy, Eric Gardiner.

"He told me the idea and I said, 'That's a great Idea Big Lo, great idea,'" said Gardiner.

Gardiner then got in touch with his friend, Christian Burgess, who owns a T-shirt printing company in Aberdeen called Jacknut Apparel.

The men huddled, and out came the battle cry "Get Schmitt-faced."

And before they knew it, their Owen Schmitt T-shirt was a hit, with more than a thousand sold nationwide.

The interest in the $20 shirts spiked so fast that Jacknut Apparel's Web site crashed for seven hours this past week.

"I had no idea it would get this big," Burgess said.

But it isn't jackpot for Jacknut Apparel or for Big Lo. They're donation a part of the proceeds from the sale of the pink Owen Schmitt shirts to the Breast Cancer Alliance in Grays Harbor. A part of the proceeds from the white shirt goes to Schmitt's charity, Operation Smile."

Talk about a memorable moment.

Schmitt's head-bashing before the Seahawks game eared him national attention, got him a Schrammie, and got a small Aberdeen T-shirt company on the map.
