3-alarm fire engulfs Aberdeen store, warehouse
ABERDEEN, Wash. -- A three-alarm fire gutted a commercial warehouse in downtown Aberdeen.

Firefighters said the blaze broke out at the warehouse State and I Street, which houses Stouffer-Moore Floor Covering & Cabinets, at 6:01 p.m. Tuesday.

Witnesses reported seeing flames shooting high into the sky through the building's collapsed roof.

"About 75 feet to 100 feet. A fire ball just roaring out of the whole building out of the top," said witness Matthew Bullock.

Aberdeen Fire Chief Dave Carlberg said fire crews worked defensively, keeping their distance from the building as the cracked structure was on the verge of collapsing. The building was expected to be a total loss.

Carlberg said no one was in the building at the time.

Fire crews managed to save several of the business' trucks, and a smaller warehouse adjacent to the burning building only sustained external damages, according to officials.

The cause of the fire has not been determined as fire officials were not able to enter the structure on Tuesday.

Fire crews from Aberdeen, Cosmopolis, Hoquiam, Montesano and Fire District 2 are working to douse the blaze.
