They claimed they just wanted to give voters a say.

What they really meant was that they wanted only selected voters to have a voice.

The passage of Referendum 71, sustaining and endorsing the everything but marriage law, should mean an end to the debate over civil rights for same sex couples.

Sadly, that's not the case.

Not happy with how the election went, conservative Christians want yet another shot to try and steal away the legal protections gays and lesbians have earned.

Rev. Ken Hutcherson, one of the most outspoken critics of the domestic partnership law, says he's going to keep pushing to overturn it, indicating there may be another initiative getting underway to do just that.

Hutcherson is good at using scripture to sculpt his bigotry.

He uses the bible as a weapon to denounce people who want nothing more than to live their lives with dignity under the law.

I've never believed that the majority should get to vote on the rights of a minority.

But for years, Hutcherson and his kind have insisted the public at large should get to decide the civil rights of same sex couples.

Unless the vote doesn't go their way.

It's no surprise their bigotry is supplemented by their hypocrisy.
