SEATTLE -- I've got a great title for a grade "B" movie: "Attack of the Panhandlers."

It'll be a true-life little ditty about how upper crust yuppies buy overpriced condos in a once seedy Seattle neighborhood called Belltown.

And that once they move in, are then left cowering in fear of those seeking spare change.

The plot revolves around the concept that if a bunch of well-heeled pseudo liberals move into a rough and tumble neighborhood with views of Puget Sound, gentrification will soon follow.

Playing the part of the hard-charging politician will be Seattle City Councilman Tim Burgess.

His role will be to craft new laws designed to purge panhandlers from the neighborhood by stipulating where and how the bums can ask for money.

Burgess will propose they be barred from street corners; barred from approaching someone getting into or out of a car; barred from being near a business entrance.

Police will be told to swoop in and scoop up the grubby people and lo the gentrification process will move forward.

I think this low budget movie will be a big hit with the downtown theatre crowd.

I see the closing credits as a scene from a condo balcony looking out at the sunset over Elliot Bay.

I wonder if I could get Danny Elfman to do the sound track.
