Schram: 'Low-life' band glorifies alleged cop killer
I'm not going to name the band.
They'd enjoy the publicity too much.
But they're a local, group of hardcore musicians who are promoting themselves with a T-shirt that celebrates Christopher Monfort, the guy charged with killing Seattle Police Officer Tim Brenton.
I'm not going to show you the shirt.
It's disgusting.
But I will at least tell you that the front of the shirt has a picture of Monfort along with a Seattle police badge sitting atop a pool of blood.
The message over this "visual collage" states, "Deliver Us From Evil."
One or more of the band members is said to harbor a petty grudge against Seattle police, as if that could stand as a way to justify making a hero out of an alleged cop killer.
I debated as to whether I should even talk about this, sensing that in some circles even mentioning the shirt's existence could be seen as some mark of accomplishment.
In the end, I decided it was impossible to ignore.
Obviously without talent, the band is looking to gain notoriety by being outrageous.
Part of me feels sorry for their sick and puny play for notoriety.
But most of me just wishes these low-lifes will get the scorn they deserve because, as no-talent hacks, they'll never get the glory they’re hoping for.
