Schrammie: Buy the bobblehead, help officers' families

The slain Lakewood officers are (clockwise from upper left) Sergeant Mark Renninger, 39; Officer Greg Richards, 42; Officer Ronald Owen, 37; Officer Tina Griswold, 40.

SEATTLE -- There is no Schrammie today. At least not in the usual sense.

To be candid, with everything that's happened over the past few days, I'm just not up to poking at someone's political pratfall or someone's social misstep.

What I want to do is this: In light of four Lakewood police officers having been gunned down; with an understanding that the families of those four officers are facing such grief and sadness over the loss a spouse, a parent, a son or daughter; knowing that there's so much uncertainty lying ahead for those families, I want to help in whatever way I can.

On the KOMO Radio show I do with John Carlson, that help has taken the form of suggesting a blue light in the windows of our homes to honor the law enforcement community.

It has meant helping to produce a T-shirt that will be sold with the proceeds going to the families of those Lakewoood officers.

And it means auctioning off this silly little bobblehead to all of you who over the years have asked if one can be purchased.

Bids will be accepted until midnight, Monday December 7th.

For more information on how to bid, go to this page on our web site. You'll find everything you need to know.

And whether you bid or not, please, keep the families of these police officers in your prayers.
