2 critically hurt in suspected DUI crash on I-90
NEAR PRESTON, Wash. -- Two people were critically injured in a suspected drunk-driving crash on Interstate 90 on Tuesday afternoon.

State troopers said a silver 2001 Acura RL traveling east on the roadway drove over the dirt median and began heading east in the westbound lanes.

The Acura swerved to avoid an oncoming semi-truck and, in turn, collided with a gray 2006 Honda Civic at approximately 12:37 p.m.

The two drivers - both women - were rushed to Harborview Medical Center in critical conditions.

Troopers said the 53-year-old woman who was driving the Acura at the time is suspected of driving drunk. The Newcastle woman, who has a prior DUI conviction, will be charged in the crash, they said.

Two of the three westbound lanes were closed for approximately 2½ hours after the crash for investigation.
