Double murder suspect waives extradition, set to return to Seattle
SEATTLE -- The man charged in the shooting deaths of his girlfriend and their 13-week-old daughter has waived extradition, and will be heading back to Seattle in the next several days.

Investigators suspect Daniel Thomas Hicks in the killing of 28-year-old Jennifer Morgan and 13-week-old Emma Morgan who were found dead in their Beacon Hill home.

Hicks was arrested in Santa Cruz, California on Monday when he reportedly told investigators he knew why he was being arrested and that he was "a bad person," according to the Santa Cruz Sentinel. Detectives tracked him down after he tried to call his father from San Jose.

King County prosecutors have charged Hicks with two counts of aggravated first-degree murder. An arraignment has not yet been scheduled.

According to the statement of probable cause, Hicks and Jennifer Morgan had a trying relationship that grew more strained when she became pregnant. Hicks made threats towards the woman during her pregnancy, even trying to convince her to abort the baby at one point, the document said.

Hicks' half-sister told investigators that the man had become paranoid and refused offers of help. And Hicks' brother, who is currently serving in Iraq, told detectives Hicks had a number of weapons and a cache of ammunition.

Jennifer Morgan's mother said Hicks grew upset when he learned the child was a girl, and even started to claim that he was not the father, according to investigators. She added the relationship grew increasingly toxic, prompting Jennifer Morgan to ask Hicks to move out of the home they had shared with her parents.
