Rescued eagle being treated for eye injury
SAMMAMISH, Wash. -- A bald eagle that got tangled in rope near Pine Lake will take longer to mend than first thought.
The bald eagle was found grounded on Tuesday.
The bird was freed by a raptor specialist and taken to the Sarvey Wildlife Care Center in Arlington for a checkup.
At first, experts thought the bird would be good as new in a few days. But they discovered a damaged eye, which will take approximately a week to heal.
"Any number of things could have happened with the bird trapped down on the ground," said Leslie Henry, director of the center. "It's vulnerable to predators -- coyotes, bobcats, any number of things."
Rescuers say the eagle might have been going after dinner, possibly a duck in the lake, when its leg got tangled in rope on a dock.
