Help sought identifying Green River victims
SEATTLE -- King County sheriff investigators on Tuesday asked for the public's help identifying three women who were killed by Gary Ridgway.
Sheriff spokesman John Urquhart said that despite thousands of hours of work by detectives, their identities remain a mystery.
Gary Ridgway, the Green River serial killer, pleaded guilty in 2003 to killing 48 women and offered to help investigators locate remains that had been missing for two decades. He was sentenced to life in prison.
The facial reconstructions, seen below, were done by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Urquhart said the hair styles in the photos are only a "best guess."
Urquhart said Ridgway was not able to provide any information that would help the victims, but told investigators they were killed in the spring or summer of 1983.
It is possible that the victims may have been from another state Urquhart said.
Anyone with information about the victims' identities is asked to call the King County Sheriff's Office at 206-296-7530.
