The Schrammie: Hypocrisy, audacity and arrogance

I'm reminded of the old adage "It's the thought that counts."

And it compels me to ask: Exactly what the hell were they thinking?

So if the entire officious collection of bigwigs with the Lake Washington School District would stop writing on their desks, I'd like them to come on down.

District officials say they will not pay 119 office personnel who called in sick on Monday.

The district says it doesn't believe the employees were really sick.

They believe all those school secretaries and office workers were actually taking the day off to protest contract negotiations that have been dragging on for more than a year.

I've gotta wonder: Do district officials have any actual proof that all those employees violated sick-leave policy, or are they just guessing?

Oh well, maybe those Lake Washington school officials can sort it all out during a planned lavish retreat they've got coming up in Leavenworth.

As they're eating and drinking and curled up in a nice hotel room that other people are paying for, maybe those district officials can contemplate what to do about those ungrateful underlings that help keep their schools running.

I'm certain the district bigwigs are looking forward to a long, pricey weekend on the taxpayer's dime after begging people to pass that school levy just a couple of weeks ago.

So: For your hypocrisy; for your audacity and most definitely for your arrogance, I'd like the big brass in the Lake Washington School District to take a bow, because this "Schrammie's" for you.
