ARLINGTON, Wash. -- Police here now have strong leads into whoever vandalized the Point Church.

Crooks tried to steal the truck the church uses to store food and feed the homeless. But when they couldn't, they poured all the food out -- about $500 worth -- destroyed most of it and even tried to set the van on fire.

"And to see it all, a lot of it destroyed it was just a waste of money and effort that people have done," said church assistant Patty Kellogg.

And as if that wasn't enough, the vandals came across the parking lot and tried to steal the church bus. When that didn't work, they sprayed a fire extinguisher all over the inside of the bus and even left a hand print.

But Pastor Mike Zachman has hope police will catch the culprits. The police chief told him they have promising leads that could result in arrests.

And when they're captured? Zachman wants the culprits to pay restitution by feeding the homeless.

"I'd love to meet these guys and to talk to them and help them with their restitution and make this right," Zachman said.

In the meantime, the church won't stop feeding the homeless and many have donated money, food and even offered to help clean up the mess.

Kellogg considers the vandalism a mere setback in a mission they've been on for years, hopeful the people responsible will learn a lesson.

If you have any information on who did it, you're asked to call Arlington Police.
