SEATTLE - A woman attacked by two pit bulls while she slept is out of the hospital Tuesday. But there are certain fears she has about going home, since the attack.

"I had my stitches pulled out of my face today, 27 of them-- small wounds," Sue Gorman said after being released Tuesday.

Gorman knows there is more healing to be done, but she's a survivor; living through a vicious pit bull attack in her own bedroom.

One week later, she remembers the shock of realizing what happened.

"I thought, 'OK, my arm's still there... there's the muscle... and there's the bone... those are intact... people survive this... let's just pretend we're watching it on TV so we don't freak out,' " she said.

She's in good spirits and, for now, staying with a friend. She says she would like to go home, but she's afraid to go back.

"I need my house to be safe to return, that's number one," she said.

She's afraid there may be more pit bulls in the neighborhood. The two that snuck in to attack Sue along with her dog, and a neighbor's dog while they slept, have been put down. But the destruction the dogs left behind won't be easy to erase.

"I understand there's blood all over the place, and sunk into the carpet," Gorman said. "I haven't been to my house but (my friend) Leanne's telling me it's bad, and so that would be nice if that stuff was gone."

Gorman says insurance will cover replacing the carpet, and re-painting the walls. But all of her furniture was destroyed.

Friends are organizing a work party to help put up a fence, but they're asking for donations. They set up an account at Sound Credit Union under Gorman's name.
