SEATTLE -- One bicyclist was killed and another was injured Friday afternoon in a collision with a dump truck in the city's Eastlake neighborhood.

Two men in their 20s were riding north on Eastlake Avenue toward the University Bridge when a dump truck making a right turn onto Fuhrman Avenue East crashed into both of them around 3 p.m.

Police said the two men were pinned under the dump truck and dragged for several feet.

Witnesses said when the driver discovered the two bicyclists pinned underneath his truck, he broke down in tears.

Seattle Fire Department Capt. Reba Gonzales said the bicyclist who was riding in front died at the scene.

The other bicyclist was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives blocked off Fuhrman Avenue for several hours following the crash in to collect evidence and interview witnesses.

The name of the man who was killed has not been released, and a lieutenant at the crash site said the victim was not wearing a helmet.
